About Us

  • Who is Giftware Engraved?

Giftware Engraved began in 2019, founded by John Hedges with a simple aim — to create thoughtful, beautifully engraved gifts for life’s special moments. What started as a small venture has grown steadily, and in 2022 became part of EnF Engraving Limited. Today, John and his partner Emma run the business together, combining craftsmanship and care to offer a wide range of themed, personalised giftware for every occasion.

  • What sets you apart as engravers?

We offer traditional custom engraving across a wide range of items for special occasions, working to your exact requirements.

However, where we truly stand out is in our themed gifts. Drawing on our graphic design background, we’ve built a catalogue of over 200 original engraving artworks — featuring cars, motorcycles, aircraft, ships and much more. By combining these detailed designs with our carefully selected range of giftware, we’re able to create truly distinctive pieces that are exclusive to us.

Using the same design expertise and precision engraving skills, we also specialise in accurate logo reproduction and professional logo engraving.

  • What services do you offer?

Beyond logo engraving, we’re equipped to engrave a wide range of materials using specialist machinery.

We engrave metals using our drag diamond machines and fibre lasers; plastics using our CO₂ laser, fibre laser or sandblaster; wood using our CO₂ laser; and glassware using our sandblasting equipment.

This versatility allows us to offer a comprehensive range of professional engraving services across many different materials and finishes.

Artworks and Engraving

  • Can I request a New Themed Artwork?

Yes, simply fill out our Artwork request form at this link - https://giftwareengraved.com/pages/artwork-request-form

  • Can I request a modification to an Artwork?

Yes! As all the artworks are drawn by us and we have the layered source files we can modify and edit them as much as is required.

Please contact us using our artwork request form - https://giftwareengraved.com/pages/artwork-request-form

  • How long does it take to create a new artwork? when could I expect an item with a new artwork to be dispatched?

This depends very much on what the artwork is.

A motorcycle for example is harder and takes longer to draw than an Aircraft, while one artwork might take 3 hours, another might take 10 hours.

We do like to leave 14 days to get the artwork done and ready for engraving on an item. Though assuming no other projects are ongoing and depending on engraving workload we are normally done much quicker than that.

  • What software do you use to Create your artworks?

We use Inkscape to do the actural drawing. Inkscape is an opensource vector drawing software and a very good one at that!

  • Do you use AI to create your themed artworks?

No, we don't use Ai to draw our engraving artworks.

We will be writing a page about where we do use Ai as a tool in various parts of the business but our themed engraving artworks are not one of them.

  • What engraving Methods are there and which do you use?

    Hand Engraving / Carving

The most traditional and highly skilled form of engraving. Each piece is individually cut by hand using specialist tools such as drills or burnishers, meaning no two items are ever exactly the same. It’s a true craft — although John will happily admit his hand isn’t quite steady enough to offer this as a primary service!

    Diamond Drag Rotary Engraving

This method uses a computer- or manually-controlled machine fitted with a diamond-tipped cutter. The diamond cuts or burnishes the surface of the material to create a precise, permanent mark. It’s a clean and accurate process — and one of the core methods we use.

    Laser Engraving / Marking

One of the most popular modern engraving methods. Computer-controlled lasers use a high-intensity beam to mark or engrave the surface of an item.

There are two main types of laser:

    • Fibre lasers – Ideal for engraving directly onto metals.
    • CO₂ lasers – Excellent for engraving and cutting wood and plastics. They can also mark metal when used with a specialist marking spray.

Each laser operates at a different wavelength, making them suitable for different materials and finishes.

    Sandblasting

Sandblasting uses high-pressure air to propel fine abrasive material onto the surface, creating a deep, smooth, premium finish that cannot be replicated by diamond cutting.

Artwork masks are produced using UV light, washed out with high-pressure water, dried, and then carefully applied by hand before blasting. While more labour-intensive, sandblasting is often faster than diamond engraving for many of our designs and is particularly well suited to bulk orders and glassware.

    What We Offer

    We specialise in:

    • Diamond Drag Rotary Engraving
    • Laser Engraving (Fibre and CO₂)
    • Sandblasting
    • Hand finishing and detailed touch-ups where required

With a wide range of professional equipment and experience across multiple techniques, we’re able to choose the best method for each material and design.

  • If I send you an item can you engrave one of your artworks on it?

Yes, assuming the item is suitably sized and made of suitable materials, we are happy to engrave our artworks on it.

Our artworks are done in such a way we can engrave them on almost any item, at any size and on any engraving machine.

  • I have a logo I want to send you and what are suitable file formats?

You can upload the file with your order using the upload function in the product options. Acceptable file formats are .jpg, .png, .pdf, .ai and .tif.

  • I am a designer and can design my own logo, what is the graphic requirements for the logo to be Engraved?

The logos must be black and white with no gradient shade just solid colours.

Vector artworks are best as they don’t lose detail when resized.

If the product you are looking at is glassware, we recommend a minimum stroke width of 0.17mm as the lines may not come out due to the sandblasting process.

  • Can you engrave foreign languages and/or Emoji Symbols?

Yes, we can engrave foreign languages no problems.

The only thing we ask is that the text is exactly as you require so we can copy and paste directly into our engraving/graphics software.

If your proposed layout doesn’t fit on the item we will use our discretion to create line breaks and come back to you if we are unsure.

We can also engrave Emojis and similar icon symbols.

  • I would like a product engraved that you don't stock, would you be willing to source it for me?

Sure! We have a network of suppliers and other engravers we work with to source various item if the request is made.

Just contact us with what you require and we will see what we can do for you.
